3 DPWH men dead in mishap
QUEZON—Three employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Quezon province were killed and two others were injured in a road accident along the Marikina-Infanta Road in Infanta town on Tuesday, police said.
Senior Supt. Valeriano de Leon, Quezon police chief, said the victims were aboard a government-owned Toyota Land Cruiser that was negotiating a downhill road in Barangay Magsaysay when its driver, Jose Gonzales Jr., lost control of the vehicle.
Police said three of the passengers—geodetic engineers Jose Alden Baldovino and Raul Concepcion and engineering aide Miguel Romantico—were dead on the spot.
The driver and another passenger, engineering aide Jason Salayong, were rushed by villagers to Claro M. Recto Hospital in Infanta, police said.
Eric Ayapana, DPWH district engineer, said the DPWH team had just finished surveying a proposed section of the Marikina-Infanta Road and was on its way back to Infanta when the accident happened. Delfin T. Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
