Parts of Manila flooded due to early morning rain–MMDA

MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in Manila are flooded due to rains that started before dawn, a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority-Flood Control unit officer said.

Jeremy de Ocampo of Flood Control said that as of 6:22 a.m., riverside road Muelle del Rio was impassable to light vehicles, as well as Taft Avenue, Romualdez, and T.M. Kalaw United, Nations Avenue, all in Manila.

The rains started around 4 a.m., he said.

He said gutter-level floods were also monitored along the vicinity of the Manila City Hall building along Villegas Street in Ermita, Manila.

A yellow rainfall alert was  issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, which means rain showers from 1 up to 7 milliliters per hour are expected to fall over Metro Manila.

The alert was removed at 7 a.m.
