2012 Lapu-Lapu Health Run returns Sept. 29

THE LAPU-LAPU Health Run 2012 returns with longer distances starting Sept. 29 in Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island.

The running event will have a total of eight legs starting with the Punta Engaño race. It will also hold one leg in Olanggo Island for the first time.

The first leg will have 2-kilometer, 4k and 6k distances. Its route covers Punta Engaño and Mactan area.

The second leg will be at barangay Buaya and Bankal while leg three will be at Pajac to Maribago. The fourth leg will be in Olanggo.

The fifth leg will have longer distances of 3k, 5k and 8k at barangay Suba to Basbas. The sixth leg will extend its distances to 5k, 8k and 10k, which will be from Kalawisan to Babag. The seventh leg will be held at barangay Basak to Gun-ob while the eighth leg, which will extend to 8k, 10k and 12k, will be at Pajo, Pusok to Ibo.

Last year’s races offered 1.5k, 3k, 8k and 10k distances.

“It was a very challenging task for us last year to stage this running event but it went successful and now we are back and we want to offer this activity for the fitness and health of our fellow Oponganons,” said Sports and Tourism Chairman and Lapu-Lapu City councilor Harry Don Radaza via a video call from San Francisco, California, USA during yesterday’s launching.

Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of the race singlet, bib and other freebies. Registration can be done at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall.

Proceeds of the running event will be given to Lapu-Lapu City’s charity works. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
