Road mishap victims lament Talisay police’s inaction
AT LEAST 12 persons who were hurt in a vehicular accident in barangay Lagtang, Talisay City, southern Cebu, complained that they were not immediately attended to when they reported to the police.
Onnie Rabago, one of the complainants, said they went to the traffic police station in barangay Tabunok to file a complaint against Alfeche Lañojan, the driver of the multicab that rammed a tricycle parked along a road in Lagtang on Sunday morning.
Rabago said that when they arrived at the Tabunok police station, a policeman whom he identified as SPO3 Sherwin Abellare told them to report the incident to the Talisay City Police Station in barangay Poblacion, a few kilometers away.
At the Talisay City Police station, no one entertained them. They were referred back to the Tabunok police station.
It was only in their fourth visit to the Talisay City station when they were attended to with the arrival of Chief Insp. Eddie Recamara.
After learning about the victims’ ordeal, Recamara, officer-in-charge of the Talisay police, called all city traffic policemen and reminded them of their duties.
