Man shot by mother’s lover

A 22-year-old man was shot by the live-in partner of his mother after he allegedly objected to the relationship.

Julius Marmol remained in a comatose state at the East Avenue Medical Center on Friday as a charge of frustrated murder was filed against Roberto Alarcon, who shot him in the head late on Thursday night after an argument.

SPO4 Danilo Salas, officer on the case, said Marmol was drinking with friends and relatives in their house in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, when an argument ensued between him and Alarcon.

Tempers flared as Marmol raised objections to the live-in relationship  of Alarcon and his mother, Elena Insigne.

Alarcon, in turn, questioned why Marmol, Insigne’s son from a previous relationship, was still living with his mother.

Insigne intervened before it could get worse, and Alarcon left the house, only to return with an improvised gun.

He took a shot at Marmol, who was hit in the head, and quickly fled from the scene.

Marmol was rushed to  Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan City, and  was transferred later to  East Avenue Medical Center.

Caloocan policemen were able to arrest Alarcon after Insigne sought their   help.

Insigne told the police that Alarcon had sent her a text message telling her to pack her clothes and to come with him.

With the police in tow, Insigne went to a convenience store where she and Alarcon agreed to meet.

It took another hour before the police were able to arrest Alarcon.
