‘Igme’ back in PH territory, slightly weakens

MANILA, Philippines–Typhoon Igme (international name Tembin) which has re-entered the Philippine territory Monday night has slightly weakened as it moved northeastward, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

Public storm warning signal number two remained hoisted in Batanes Group of Islands, while signal number one was still up in Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

As of 4a.m., Igme was seen 180kilometers north northwest of Basco in Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 120kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150kph. It was moving at northeast at 17kph.

Moderate to heavy rains and an enhanced southwest monsoon that will bring rains over the western section of Northern and Central Luzon were seen, says Pagasa.

Fishing boats and other small vessels were advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon due to big waves caused by Igme.

By Wednesday morning, it is forecast to be at 530 km northeast of Basco, Batanes or 140km northeast of Taipei, Taiwan.
