Energen Pilipinas ends up sixth

THE ENERGEN Pilipinas fell short on their comeback attempt and settled for sixth place after they were defeated by Chinese Taipei, 85-89, in the FIBA-Asia Under-18 Championships in UlaanBaatar, Mongolia.

The Nationals faced a 12-point deficit, 48-60, heading to the fourth period as Chinese Taipei outscored them, 14-25, in the third canto.

They did not give up and threatened within two with under 10 seconds remaining in the game but time ran out on their comeback attempt.  The Nationals outscored their opponents, 37-29, in the fourth.

Skipper J-Jay Alejandro paced the team with 22 points while Cebuano guard Jeri Pingoy and Mario Bonleon each added 15 markers. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
