San Beda routs St. Benilde

THE SAN BEDA Red Lions ran roughshod over the St. Benilde Blazers, 74-56, to take the solo lead in the standings in the 88th NCAA men’s basketball tournament late Saturday night at the Arena in San Juan City.

The defending champions took control of the game in the second period, where they unleashed an 8-0 run that gave them a 26-11 lead.

The lead eventually ballooned to 22, 44-22, before the Blazers tried to make a game out of it with a run that trimmed to deficit to 10, 43-53. However, San Beda’s depth proved to be too much of a headache for the Blazers leading to their loss.
