THE ENERGEN Pilipinas national youth team scored their second straight win after they defeated Kazakhstan, 83-69, in the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championships in UlaanBaatar, Mongolia yesterday.
The win padded the Nationals record to 2-0 (win-loss) after winning their opening game, 95-52, over Saudi Arabia last Friday.
In that game, the University of the Philippines’ Kyle Suarez scored 15 to lead five Filipinos in double figures.
Yesterday, Mario Bonleon tallied 20 points while J-Jay Alejandro added 18 for the Nationals, which seized the lead in the second canto before sealing the win with a solid performance in the fourth stanza where they outscored their opponents, 28-17.
