Pepito prompts storm surge warning in Luzon, Visayas areas

MANILA, Philippines — A storm surge warning was raised over some areas in Luzon and Visayas due to Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) on Saturday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 8 p.m. advisory, Pagasa noted that a high risk of storm surge may occur within the next 48 hours where “there is a possibility of life-threatening inundation from rising sea water along with high waves in the low-lying coastal areas” of the following:
