Cameroonian Steve Akomo tallied 20 points and eight rebounds while Wowie Escosio added 13 markers, nine boards and three assists for UV.
In the juniors division, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles hiked their record to 5-0 after beating the Cebu Institute of Technology Wildcats, 81-59.
The University of Southern Philippines-Foundation also creamed USJ-R, 80-61 while the University of San Carlos defeated the Cebu Eastern College Dragons, 76-63.
USJ-R came to within five with under two minutes left in the game after trailing by 12, 69-81, at the 2:43 mark of the fourth canto. But the Jaguars had nobody but themselves to blame for the loss as they shot a horrendous 15-of-36 from the freethrow line.
UV started to pull away in the second period, where it finished it with a 10-0 run that erected a 48-38 lead at halftime. The lead went higher at 13, 60-47, after a three pointer by Jerome Silva and a freethrow by Franz Arong.
