Mapfre bags Division 2 title in Yayoy’s Grill hoop

THE MAPFRE Insular captured the championship in Division 2 after they thwarted defending champions Yayoy’s Grill and Restobar, 63-62, in the deciding Game 3 of the best-of-three finals series in the University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) last weekend at the USC North gym.

Former USC Warrior and current M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala –Cebu Niños guard Giovanni Padillo led the way for the winners with 19 points while Kevin Jake Arriesgado and Luigi Bercede added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The dethroned champions got 20 from former two-time Cesafi MVP Enrico Llanto and 15 from Rocky Alcoseba.

Mapfre will now play Division 1 champions BMEG Llamados for the overall title. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
