A case of malversation has been filed against a police official after he allegedly failed to return a government-issued firearm following his transfer to another police unit.
Senior Inspector Michael Perez Galisim, 37, who was previously assigned to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Eastwood station’s intelligence and investigation unit, was charged in the Quezon City Regional Trial Court by Assistant City Prosecutor Ferdinand Baylon.
The case has been turned over to Judge Henri Inting of the QCRTC Branch 95.
The case against the police official was filed by the QCPD logistics division chief after Galisim failed to return an M-16 automatic 5.56 mm rifle and a magazine containing 30 rounds of ammunition.
Galisim was issued the equipment in October 2009 but the following year, he was reassigned to the QCPD district headquarters support unit. He was repeatedly ordered to return the high-powered firearm but he failed to do so. Jeannette I. Andrade
