A 14-year-old high school student killed himself Wednesday after his mother and brother scolded him for not taking his studies seriously.
The body of Mar Vincent Verde, a first year high school student, was found hanging from the ceiling of their bathroom in their house on Sales Street in Quiapo, Manila, at 10 p.m.
The teenager was rushed to Jose Abad Santos Memorial Hospital where a doctor declared him dead on arrival, according to Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez.
Earlier, the victim’s class adviser informed his mother that the boy had been skipping school to hang out with his friends.
This led to a confrontation during which the victim’s mother warned him that he would be taken out of school and sent home to the province should he refuse to change his ways.
“His elder brother also scolded him and advised him to study harder,” the police investigator said. Later on, the boy hanged himself in the bathroom using his own belt. Jamie Marie Elona, INQUIRER.net
