St. Augustine Run set to repair Carmen church

THE LOCAL government unit of the municipality of Carmen will stage the Saint Augustine Run: Run for the Church” on Aug. 25.

The proceeds of the race will be used to restore the century-old Saint Augustine church in Carmen. The running event is also part of the activities lined-up for the fiesta celebration of the town on Aug. 28.

The running event will be a first in the municipality of Carmen, which is also known to host other outdoor sports such as trail running and mountain climbing.

“We hope this running event will be a key to make Carmen a community that has a healthy and active lifestyle,” said town councilor Manuel Mari Durano during last Sunday’s press conference at the Carmen Municipal Hall.

“We hope that with the funds raised in this running event, we will be able to beautify our church.” The press conference  was also attended by town mayor Martin Gerard Adlawan, councilor Jover Pisao and race director Presing Capangpangan./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
