Monterrazas project allowed to resume

Development of the Monterrazas de Cebu subdivision can now now proceed after the City Hall lifted the stoppage order on the project in July last after flooding in communities below the project was attributed to them Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama announced yesterday the lifting of the cease-and-desist order on the subdivision project located in the uplands of barangay Guadalupe.

The lifting order however contained stringent conditions for the developer of the 200-hectare post subivision, the Genvi Development Corp. to follow. (see table)

City administrator Jose Marie Poblete told reporters, that City Hall would re-impose the cease-and-desist order if the developer violates any of the conditions they have imposed.

The City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) will monitor the compliance of the developer.

Work on the project was ordered stopped on July 25, 2011 after it was found out that their earth-moving activities in the uplands caused floods in low-lying communities.
