DIGOS CITY, Philippines—A policeman was killed when suspected armed B’laan natives opposing a mining project ambushed a patrol car in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, a field report reaching the provincial police headquarters here said.
The report did not provide much detail on the ambush but identified the slain policeman as P01 Rommel Paqcial, a member of the Kiblawan police.
The ambush was the latest attack blamed on armed B’laan tribesmen headed by the Capion brothers Batas, Dagil and Kitara.
On June 26, retired police Supt. Villamendo Hectin, a security consultant for Sagittarius Mines Inc., was killed in a similar attack.
The Capion brothers are oppsed to the presence of SMI in Kiblawan and other B’laan communities in South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.
