MANILA, Philippines—As the La Mesa reservoir in Quezon City continued to spill water on Wednesday, the water elevation declined anew after briefly rising in the late afternoon.
As of 10p.m. the water at La Mesa was at 80.28 meters, Manila Water Company Inc. communications manager Jeric Sevilla said via text message.
Earlier, at 8p.m., elevation was at 80.31 meters or slightly lower than the 80.32 meters at 5p.m.
There was a brief period when water rose anew at La Mesa after declining steadily from 80.41 meters at 5a.m. to 80.25 meters by 12noon.
The water level was steady until 3p.m. before rising to 80.32 meters by 5p.m.
The reservoir starts to spill water after 80.15 meters.
La Mesa’s water level was on a rollercoaster movement all Tuesday as heavy rains continued to pour into Metro Manila and nearby areas.
The same rollercoaster behavior was evident Monday as the volume of rain went from heavy to light and back again.
Water from La Mesa goes into the Tullahan River, which flows through the northern part of Quezon City, including the Fairview area, as well as the cities of Malabon, Valenzuela, and Caloocan.
The river drains into Manila Bay.
