Green rainfall alert up in parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — The green rainfall warning signal was raised over parts of Metro Manila on Wednesday afternoon as heavy rains poured over major cities.

On its official account on Twitter, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that heavy to intense (15.0-30.0 millimeters/hr) rains with occasional torrential (more than 30.0 mm/hr) rains over Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Manila, Pasig, Pasay, Taguig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Makati and Quezon City within the next two hours.

The alert was raised at 3:30 p.m.

The state-run weather bureau also warned residents in high-risk areas to take precaution against flood or landslide.

Pagasa said that torrential rainfall which measured 30-50 mm/hr was recorded over Manila, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and San Juan over the last hour. Likewise, heavy to intense rains (15-25 mm/hr) was recorded over Pasay, Marikina, Quezon City, North Caloocan, Taguig and Makati while moderate to heavy rainfall (7.5-15.0 mm/hr) over the same period, Pagasa said.

Pagasa earlier lifted the warning alert shortly before noon.
