Inmates from flooded Rizal town evacuated, still in handcuffs

MANILA, Philippines—The San Mateo Municipal Jail has evacuated some 200 inmates due to waist-high flood in its cells, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported Wednesday.

Quoting Joni Mamaril, OIC head of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Rizal, the report said the inmates’ temporary shelter is the Roosevelt College Gym.

Mamaril said the inmates are handcuffed and they have received security augmentation from the Philippine National Police.
