UV teams see action today

Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
5 p.m. – UV vs. USPF (jrs.)
6:30 p.m. – UV vs. CIT-U (srs.)
The Cebu Coliseum is expected to bleed green as both the seniors and juniors teams of the University of the Visayas take the floor today against separate opponents, looking to grab the lead the standings in their respective divisions in the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. basketball tournament.

The Baby Lancers, the reigning juniors champions, see action first as they take on the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Baby Panthers with the intention of going 3-0 (win-loss).

The nine-time seniors champions Green Lancers aim for their second win in as many games when they face off against the 2012 Partner’s Cup runners-up Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats.

UV and CIT-U faced off in the Cesafi preseason tournament with the Prime Asia-backed Green Lancers toppling the Kia Motors-supported Wildcats in three straight games.

Save for Game 1 in the Partner’s Cup Finals, the Wildcats put up a spirited fight against the mighty Lancers behind Floyd Taboada, who normed more than 20-points per game during the summer. It remains to be seen if CIT-U can stand tall against the skyscrapers of UV led by 6-foot-8 Cameroonian Steve Akomo, who debuted with aplomb against USPF last week.
