Pagasa raises green alert in Metro, warns of flooding

MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Metro Manila were alerted against flooding as the state weather bureau raised green warning Monday afternoon.

A heavy to intense (7.5 to 25.0 mm/hr) rainfall was observed over Manila for the past hour and most likely to continue for the next three hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued 5p.m.

Flooding is threatening in low-lying areas and those located near the river channels, it added.

Meanwhile, monsoon rains will continue in Luzon and Visayas, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

A shallow low pressure area spotted earlier by Pagasa was spotted 770 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.
