MANILA, Philippines—The cities of Malabon and Valenzuela are once again monitoring the depth of the Tullahan river after most of Metro Manila experienced heavy rains and lashing winds late Sunday night.
Ahna Mejia of the Valenzuela City Public Information Office said that they are closely monitoring the Tullahan River if it would overflow to give residents advanced notice to evacuate.
As of early Sunday, five villages in Valenzuela: Arkong Bato, Palasan, Polo, Pariancillo Villa, and Balangkas still experienced flooding.
Mejia said that despite the heavy downpour on Sunday night, they have received no additional reports of flooding.
The Tullahan river, which snakes through Quezon City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, and Navotas City before flowing out to the Manila Bay, is linked to the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City
As of 11pm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said water level at the La Mesa Dam is at 80.12m deep, close to its 80.15m spilling level.
