MANILA, Philippines – Fire from a still undetermined source wrought P1 million worth of damages when it broke out at the Philippine Postal Savings Bank at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila Thursday night, an arson investigator from the Manila Fire Department said Friday.
Senior Fire Officer 2 John Joseph Jalique said the fire started at the fourth floor of the building at around 10 p.m. and reached fourth alarm before it was put out at 11:55 p.m. He said that there were no confirmed injuries and that there was no one in the building when the fire started.
Jalique said the first, second and third floors were safe to use but the fourth floor was “totally damaged” during the fire. He added that the area would be “risky for the employees” and that they were still looking into what may have caused the fire.
