Drunk Korean boxes taxi driver

POLICE arrested a 33-year-old Korean national, who allegedly punched a taxi driver in barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City.

Bang Kyoung Sock, a stay-in student of Cebu International Academy in A.S. Fortuna Street in barangay Bakilid, was reportedly drunk during the incident.

Taxi driver Romie Sabior, 40, said he was driving to ward the driveway of Orchard Hotel past 10 p.m. last Wednesday when Sock blocked him in the road and punched the front portion of the taxi.

Sabior said he opened the car window and asked the Korean why he did that.

Instead of answering the taxi driver, the Korean allegedly punched Sabior in the face.

Police said the Korean crossed the street and walked toward a restaurant.

On his way to the restaurant, Sock allegedly hit the side mirror of a motorcycle driven by Retchie Tayong, 31.

The motorist said he saw the Korean standing in the middle of the road and tried to avoid him but the Korean destroyed the motorcycle’s side mirror.

Tayong said Sock refused to return the broken side mirror and kept it in his pocket.

Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics team arrived and brought the Korean to the Subangdaku police station.

Sock denied the allegations that he attacked the two motorists.

He said he confronted Sabior after he was hit by the taxi and he kept the side mirror of Tayong’s motorcycle as evidence that he was hit by the motorcycle.
