MANILA, Philippines—A man in Palawan fell into a comatose state after a coconut fell on his head due to strong winds brought by Tropical Storm “Gener.”

Police Chief Superintendent Artemio Hicban, Regional Director of Region 4-B (Mimaropa region), said that the victim, identified as Edizon de los Santos, was accidentally hit by a falling coconut fruit at Sitio (sub-village) Tulduan, Barangay (village) Liminangcong, Taytay, Palawan, at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

The incident was reported to authorities by Ma. Theresa Ballesteros, a local resident and elementary school teacher on Monday, Hicban said in a text message to reporters.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Puerto Princesa City for treatment. He sustained a fractured skull and was in a comatose state, Hicban said.
