Palace suspends all classes, gov’t work in NCR on Monday afternoon

MANILA—Malacañang, as of 2:30 p.m. Monday, suspended classes at all colleges and universities in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Palace also suspended work in government offices in NCR.

By authority of President Aquino, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. issued Memorandum Circular No. 32, which takes effect immediately.

“Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, and in view of the continuing inclement weather brought about by storm, ‘Gener,’ work in government offices and classes in college level in the National Capital Region are hereby suspended today, 30 July 2012 from 2:30 p.m. onwards,” said Ochoa, but added:

“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital public services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.”
