MANILA, Philippines—Two dams in Luzon remained at critical levels on Monday due to rains brought by tropical storm “Gener” and the southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said.
As of 2 p.m., Magat Dam in Isabela rose to 189.95 meters, slightly below its spilling level of 190 m, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The La Mesa Dam in Quezon City also remained on red alert, as its water level was at 79.83 m, almost reaching its spilling level of 80.15 m.
Ipo Dam in Bulacan already closed its gates after releasing water. Earlier, two of its gates were opened starting 1:50 a.m. Monday. Its latest water level was 100.34 m from previously recorded 100.66 m. Its spilling level is 100.80 m.
Also, the water level at Binga Dam in Benguet lowered to 574.61 m from 574.63. Its spilling level is 575 m.
At Caliraya Dam in Quezon, water level also subsided to 287.45 m from 287.57 m. Its spilling level is 288.00 m, Pagasa said.
