De Lima’s pa dies; 83

MANILA, Philippines—The father of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima died Monday afternoon, staff of the Justice Secretary confirmed to reporters.

Vicente De Lima—who served as Commissioner of the Commission on Elections from February 7, 1992, to 1994—was 83.

Prior to her live interview by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) panel for the Chief Justice position, the justice secretary took a leave of absence to attend to her ailing father, who was suffering from colon cancer.
