MAN STABBED DEAD IN BALAMBAN

A 19-YEAR-OLD boy was stabbed dead in barangay Buanoy, Balamban town, midwest Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as James Henieta.

The 25-year-old suspect, Marvin Cangke, was arrested by police after the incident.

Police said Cangke was walking home in a dark area in sitio Kamanggahan past 11 p.m. last Saturday when he noticed two unidentified men following him.

Police said Cangke ran to a lighted area where he saw Henieta.

Police said Cangke thought it was Henieta who tailed him and stabbed him in the abdomen.

A wounded Henieta ran and sought help from barangay tanods, who brought him to the Balamban District Hospital where he was declared dead by the attending physician.

Cangke was detained at the Balamban police precinct.

WIDOWER FOUND DEAD AT HOME

THE decomposing body of an 89-year-old widower was found inside his house in barangay Cantibas, Balamban town, midwest Cebu last Saturday.

Police are still investigating possible motives in the killing of Leonardo San Miguel.

A foul odor led the man’s neighbors to his house who found him bloodied past 4 p.m. last Saturday.

Police said San Miguel was last seen by his neighbors in his farm around 9 a.m. last July 25.

In a phone interview, SPO3 Arvie Banate of the Balamban police said the man didn’t complain of any illness before his death.

Banate said they would check with the man’s relatives if some valuables were missing in San Miguel’s house.

The man lived alone in the house.
