Quezon City suspends Monday classes in pre-school, elementary, high school due to floods

MANILA, Philippines—The Quezon City government has suspended Monday’s classes in the preschool, elementary and secondary levels in both private and public schools.

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista made the announcement at 10 p.m. Sunday following receipt of reports that most of the schools in the city and their students have been affected by heavy rains that have caused flooding in some areas.

While he canceled classes in the preschool, elementary and high school levels, Bautista left the discretion to suspend classes in the tertiary level to the officials of colleges and universities.

The mayor said that the cancelation of their classes would depend on the announcement of the Commission on Higher Education or they could decide on their own depending on the situation in their respective areas.
