Songs turn to screams at videoke bar

“Nasaan ang maangas (Where’s the hotshot)?” A drunken customer of a videoke bar on Litex Road, Quezon City, was heard challenging people to a fight before he allegedly ran amuck and shot the bar’s female owner dead before dawn Friday.

The suspect, known only to the bar’s employees as Jerome, fled after the shooting. The victim, Chery Fulgencio Penaso, 33, died before reaching the hospital.

Penaso, a resident of North Gate Executive Homes, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan province, first tried to calm down the suspect but ended up being shot in the torso at around 3:20 a.m. Friday, police said.
