Mandaue donates to PWDs

The Mandaue City government donated printing equipment to a group of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city for their livelihood.

Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede personally handed the donation consisting of mug printing equipment, digital t-shirt printing equipment and paper printing machine, in a ceremony held at City Social Welfare Service.

Bercede said the donation was approved by the council to help the PWDs come up with a viable livelihood project. “We consider PWDs as our partners in development and this is our way of showing our concern,” he added.

Michael Pielago, president of the Federation for the Welfare of PWDs in Mandaue City, welcomed the donation, saying it is a “big help to the PWDs.”

Pielago said the group can now engage in the business of mug printing as well as t-shirt printing and other printing needs of prospective clients.

Councilor Beethoven Andaya, chairman of the committee on cooperative, said he would help PWDs establish a link with the cooperatives in the city for more livelihood projects.

Meanwhile, PWDs organized a singing and dance contest last Monday at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex to culminate the PWD Week celebration. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
