4,000 jobs up for grabs in Parañaque City

A sprawling resort and gaming complex in Parañaque City is offering employment to around 4,000 residents as it prepares to open its doors for business early next year.

On Friday and Saturday, Solaire Resorts and Casino Manila, a project of property developer Bloomberry Resorts Corp. inside the Pagcor Entertainment City in Parañaque, will host a job fair at SM Sucat.

The resort operator is looking for workers for almost all of its departments which include gaming, hotel, food and beverage, facilities and engineering, information technology, housekeeping, finance, marketing and brand advertising, corporate development and planning, legal and regulatory affairs, and warehouse and purchasing departments.

Solaire will open the first phase of its entertainment complex in the first quarter of next year. It boasts 500 hotel rooms, restaurants, a ballroom with a capacity of 1,000, a 3,000-slot parking area, a fitness center and a spa.

However, the highlight of the complex will be the 27,700-sq m gaming area which will house 1,200 slot machines and 300 gaming tables. Set to be the biggest in Asia, it is expected to draw more tourists to the country.

For his part, Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe said he hoped that the job fair would reduce unemployment in the city.

“The Parañaque [City government] continuously exerts vigorous efforts to improve the livelihood prospects of its citizens. Apart from providing free training on priority skills needed in the different industries, it organizes residents and helps them establish community-based income-generating projects; and coordinates with companies and employers for the conduct of job fairs,” he said in a statement.
