ANOTHER foreigner has passed through the eye of the needle as Belgian Roby de Hondt graduated from the basic Eskrima course at the Academy of Eskrima earlier this week.
De Hondt went through written, oral and practical examinations under Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Chief Provincial Operations Manager Danilo Montaña and Tesda accredited instructors.
De Hondt is expected to complete the Intermediate Esrkima Course before the end of July.
“This will be a big morale booster for Roby as the 4th Doce Pares World Congress and Invitational Tournament is fast approaching,” Master Gerald Cañete, who headed the list of assessors, said.
De Hondt will be one of the 150 foreign guests who will compete in the sayaw and sparring competitions from July 22 and 23 at SM City Entertainment Plaza and Trade Hall.
De Hondt, who arrived late June, is set to continue his Filipino martial arts and Tesda-accredited certificates until August. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
