The police are looking for a travel agency liaison officer who went into hiding after he “deposited” the establishment’s money in a casino instead of a bank.

Hermogenes Ciudad, 52, an employee of Travel Scene Inc. and a resident of
Binondo, Manila, now faces a qualified theft complaint after he gambled away P266,903 of the agency’s money.

The case against him was filed by the company’s accounting manager, Charina Eula, in the Manila Police District Theft and Robbery section.

Eula told the police that on Friday afternoon, Ciudad was asked to collect the money from one of their clients and deposit it in the agency’s bank account.

No deposit, however, was made and Ciudad failed to return to the office that same day. When coworkers went to his house the following day, they did not find him there. Reached by phone, he admitted to his coworkers that he had lost the money in a casino.
