Iloilo City flash floods force evacuation of 25 families

ILOILO CITY—At least 25 families or around 125 persons were evacuated in Iloilo City on Sunday after heavy rains spawned flash floods in several areas.

The evacuees, all residents of Barangay (village) So-oc in Arevalo District, were transferred to the Arevalo gymnasium late in the afternoon due to flooding in the area, said Terry Gelego, social welfare officer of Arevalo District.

Gelego said there were no reported casualties but at least 592 families or around 2,960 persons were affected by the flooding.

Families who opted to remain in their homes were also given food and other assistance.
