Undefeated Philippine superflyweight champion Marco Demecillo Singwangcha (16W-0L-1D, 12KOs) of the RWS Gym of Cebu and Jeffrey Cerna (15W-5L, 5 KOs) will tangle tonight in a 10-round, non-title contest in Compostela, northern Cebu.
Demecillo, who bears the surname Singwangcha to honor his Thai sponsor Naris Singwangcha, weighed in at 115 lbs. while Cerna weighed a pound heavier and was given an hour to make the contracted weight which he eventually met.
Last April in Mactan, Demecillo won the title in dramatic fashion when he survived a first round knockdown to dethrone Marvin Mabait by third round TKO. Cerna on the other hand, lost in his last fight to Arthur Villanueva by split decision last June on the undercard of Pinoy Pride XIV.
In the supporting main event, Adonis “TI Yamagata” Aguelo of Mandaue City will square off against Jerry Nardo (14W-1L, 7 KOs) of Bacolod City. Aguelo (17W-7L-1D, 10 KOs) trains in the TI Cebu gym of former national team member Brix Flores and is sponsored by Japanese boxing patron Akira Sato.
Aguelo weighed 125.5 lbs while Nardo step the scales at 125 lbs during the official weigh-in held yesterday noon at the GAB-Cebu office.
Jason Redondo Singwangcha (126 lbs) of the RWS Gym and Eman Labanza (126 lbs) of the Phil-Aust gym of Mandaue City will fight for the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight belt for ten rounds.
Also set to see action are Gerpaul ‘TI Yamagata’ Valero (113 lbs) vs. Gerald Ubatay (114 3/4 lbs) in 10 rounds; Buhay Boksingero flyweight and PBF champion Rajah Renoel Pael (111.5 lbs) vs. Louie Arlos (111 lbs) in an eight-round non-title contest; Ardie ‘TI Yamagata’ Boyose (115 lbs) vs. Arnel Caoktoy (115.5lbs) in 6 rounds; TI Yamagata ‘Dodong’ Masashi (109 lbs) of Japan vs. Jonathan Francisco (108 lbs) in 6 rounds; Kenny Demecillo (119 lbs) of the RWS gym vs. Alvin Arresgado (117.5 lbs) in 4 rounds; Jun Ryan Quimbo (118 lbs) vs. Bryan Samson (117.5 lbs) in 4 rounds; Jayvee Galea (105 lbs) vs. Jaime Bermiso (105.5 lbs) in 4 rounds and RJ Gonzales (112.5 lbs) vs. Lloyd Hardeliza (112 lbs) also in 4 rounds.
The card is billed “No Retreat, No Surrender” and is sponsored by the local government of Compostela led by Mayor Joel Quiño. Fistic action starts at 6 p.m.
