THE sight of a “tourist submarine” caused a commotion in the coastal areas of Cebu City yesterday.
Some spectators called the Coast Guard thinking a fastcraft ferry had conked out near the South Road Properties.
It turned out that the unusual-looking seacraft was being towed by a tugboat supposedly to a resort hotel in Mactan past 3 p.m. yesterday but big waves prevented them from proceeding.
The seacraft has a submerged cabin will be used by tourists to view the bottom of the sea.
It arrived from Thailand on board the MV BBC Greenland which docked in Pier 3, Cebu Coast Guard Commander Rolando Punzalan Jr. said.
While the submersible craft was being towed by tugboat, some people thought it was a passenger vessel that had sunk three weeks ago.
Others thought it was a fast craft with engine problems. /Reporter Rhea Ruth V. Rosell
