President Aquino to sign Armm rules

President Benigno Aquino III is expected to sign this week the administrative order that will set the guidelines on how to select the officers-in-charge (OICs) who will lead the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) in the next two years.

The Armm election originally scheduled this August was postponed to 2013 to coincide with national legislative and local elections.

“We are expecting (the guidelines) to come out anytime this week so we can start the selection process for Armm,” presidential adviser for political affairs Ronald Llamas said Monday.

Llamas said that “officially” no names of possible OICs for Armm have been submitted because there was no selection committee yet—something to be addressed and determined by the yet to be issued administrative order (AO).

“Maybe some names are being submitted informally to different Cabinet secretaries but the formal selection hasn’t started because the AO is not yet there,” he told reporters.
