Intel funds are being used properly now, says PCSO chair Juico

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Margie Juico explained on Wednesday how the P5-M intelligence and confidential fund started in the agency, in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.

She said its creation dates back during the administration of President Joseph Estrada.

She discussed how the funds are being used now. One is to check on the fixers in PCSO-affiliated clinics. Another is to do a nationwide background check on those applying for the Loterya ng Bayan, a new version of the Small Town Lottery.

“It is being used properly,” Juico said.

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is facing a plunder case for allegedly pocketing the P325-M PCSO intelligence fund during her term.

Juico also clarified the news on the transfer of PCSO’s main office from its present location at PICC building in Pasay City to its property on San Marcelino Street in Manila.

In the second part of the interview, she clarified the issues hurled against the salaries of PCSO employees and the board members.

“We didn’t break the bonus rule,” she said.
