MANILA, Philippines—San Juan City lone Representative Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito clarified in an interview early Wednesday on Radyo Inquirer 990 AM he didn’t propose the Liberal Party-United Nationalist Alliance (LP-UNA) coalition.

“What I said was, I thought it was an ideal scenario for President Aquino and his administration to have a super coalition to continue his reform agenda,” he told anchors Susan K and Den Macaranas of “Good Morning Inquirer.”

“Open ang tatay ko, open si VP Binay (My father and Vice President Jejomar Binay are open to the idea of a super coalition),” Ejercito said. Ejercito is a son of former President Joseph Estrada, founder of Partido ng Masang Pilipino PMP and is one of UNA’s senior leaders. UNA is a coalition of PMP and Binay’s PDP-Laban.

“I also said it’s difficult to happen. It’s easier said than done. And I was surprised of the reaction of the Liberal Party. Instead of sabihin na thank you kahit hindi pwede. Kung magsalita ang mga liderato nila akala mo sila lang may karapatan, deserving (Instead of saying thank you though it’s not possible, their leadership sees it as if they are the ones deserving [of running for office]). Here we can see their arrogance. They are more of their agenda not of the President (Aquino),” said Ejercito.

He explained if the super coalition would happen, all the support the President needs will be given by Congress.

“It’s sad and because of the arrogance showed by LP it won’t happen. That only shows their political agenda is beyond 2016,” Ejercito said.

As for UNA, he said they continue to support the President and his programs. “We are the supporters of the President whom Liberal Party doesn’t like,” he said.

As for UNA candidates, he said they will be ready in the coming elections.

“We are a formidable team. Marami sa aming candidates ang nasa winning circle ayon sa survey,” he said.
