SEOUL – Floods and landslides triggered by three days of torrential rain have left 13 South Koreans dead or missing, the emergency agency said Monday.

Ninety homes and thousands of hectares (acres) have been flooded since Friday, the National Emergency Management Agency said.

A spokesman said seven people were confirmed dead and one was missing due to landslides after rain hit the south of the country, while five others were missing in flash floods.

South Gyeongsang and Jeolla provinces in the south and Chungcheong in the centre have been hit by as much as 400 mm (16 inches) of rain since Friday.
