NLEX San Simon portion still impassable to Class 1 vehicles

MANILA, Philippines — NLEX Corp. has advised motorists of heavy traffic along both the northbound and southbound lanes of Tulaoc (San Simon) and the San Simon Interchange due to rising water levels in the Pampanga River.

According to its 3:10 p.m. traffic advisory on Monday, Aug. 31, Lane 3 in both directions is not passable to Class 1 vehicles along the expressway’s San Simon portion. Lanes 1 and 2, however, remain passable to Class 2 and 3 vehicles.

Earlier, northbound motorists were diverted via the Sta. Rita Exit and advised to proceed along Maharlika Road toward the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CCLEX) as an alternative route.

Entry to the northbound lanes at the Pulilan Toll Plaza has been temporarily restricted for Class 1 vehicles.

Meanwhile, southbound motorists were diverted to the Mexico Exit and advised to take CCLEX toward Maharlika Highway.

Entry to the southbound lanes at the Mexico, San Fernando and San Simon Toll Plazas has also been temporarily restricted for Class 1 vehicles.

Flooding has also affected other portions of the expressway. On the northbound side, the Libtong Exit in Meycauayan remains temporarily closed to all vehicles due to flooding, while the Candaba Viaduct is experiencing heavy traffic. /mcm
