Veco welcomes 8 new scholars
Eight dependents of Veco’s customers are the latest recipients of the company’s college scholarship program.
The eight new scholars, who belong to the top five of the graduating high school class, are enrolled in B.S. Psychology and Electrical Engineering courses.
This brings to 28 the total number of scholars of the Visayan Electric Co.
Last June 11, Veco executive vice president and chief operating officer Jimmy Aboitiz welcomed the scholars and their parents into the Veco family.
Aboitiz reminded the scholars to take the opportunity for not everyone is given the chance to enjoy the benefits covered by power company’s scholarship program, such as free tuition, books and miscellaneous expenses.
The new scholars who take up BS Psychology are Ma. Mikhaela Albarico and Kevin Ken Remedio (University of San Carlos), Jesse Arres Arceo (Cebu Institute of Technology University) and Joanne Jurado (University of San Jose-Recoletos).
The other four who enrolled in Electrical Engineering in USJR, CIT-U and USC are Moises Moel Labandero, Kristine Mae Manilag, Dominic Joey Moncada and Josephite Padillo.
Meanwhile, Lacson encouraged the students to be well rounded and multi-faceted individuals.
Moncada thanked Veco for giving them the chance to study in prestigious universities despite their financial difficulties.
Veco’s scholarship program will also give laptops to students who could maintain a general point average of not lower than 1.4 for four consecutive semesters
Two scholars from the second batch had already received such incentive.
They were Armand Henzkel Canoy, a third-year Computer Engineering student at CIT-U and Adriel Gamier Sanchez, a third-year Industrial Engineering at USJ-R.
