Suspect tagged in Globe account exec’s slay

Police have identified one of the suspects in the killing of Globe Telecom account executive Federico Royo, 32, who was shot in front of his condominium in Cubao, Quezon City, on June 24. SPO1 Jaime Jimena of the Quezon City Police District said murder charges had been filed in the prosecutor’s office against Eugene Mark Anthony Villanueva, who remains at large and is also facing charges for kidnapping in a Makati City court. Jimena said that apart from eyewitnesses who recognized Villanueva as one of Royo’s attackers, the suspect’s live-in partner, Yvonne Wong, told police that he had sent text messages to Royo about the money the victim supposedly owed him. Asistio son spending weekend in jail

A son of former Caloocan Rep. Luis “Baby” Asistio, who was arrested in Caloocan City on Wednesday, will have to spend the weekend behind bars after his representatives failed to present a release order issued by the court for his temporary liberty, a jail officer said on Friday. The Inquirer also learned that Luis Asistio Jr. was arrested after a finding of probable cause in connection with a 2009 robbery case—and not after being convicted for the same offense, as what the city police chief said in an interview on Thursday. Asistio Jr., who needs to post bail at P100,000 to leave detention, is accused of robbing and assaulting businessman Joey Sia Mancilla in a motel in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan, in April 2009.  Kristine Felisse Mangunay
