PICPA-Bhutakalz match ends in tie
BHUTAKALZ led by former UC Webmaster Kern Sesante and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) battled to a 74-all tie after the first overtime of the Wednesday Club basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
PICPA trailed in the dying seconds but Edlin Endrina canned a running shot and drew a foul. He calmly completed the three-point play that tied the count at 74-all with 1.1 seconds remaining.
However, they were not allowed another 5-minute extension as time already lapsed. The game will be played next Wednesday.
PICPA bucked the absence of skipper Yoly Meso and trailed early on but managed to crawl back with savvy to force the deadlock over their highly favored foe.
Lito Ortiz and Andre Tocao led PICPA with 14 points apiece while Edlin Endrina added 13 markers. Kern Sesante and Van Ligutan led Bhutakalz with 29 and 19 points, respectively.
Earlier, PICPA and IBP Gwapo resumed their third overtime match which was also halted last week. And this time, PICPA made sure there will be no fourth extension period as it outscored IBP, 14-6 for an 11-point victory, 139-128.
