Landslide puts Benguet school at risk
BAGUIO CITY — A landslide behind the Alno-Kadoorie Elementary School in La Trinidad, Benguet, has raised safety concerns for the campus following an inspection by municipal officials on Monday.
A large portion of the slope behind the school had collapsed, leaving a steep, exposed gash directly below the school building. Tarpaulins were placed over parts of the affected slope as a temporary measure to protect the area from further rain-induced erosion.

La Trinidad Mayor Roderick Awingan, along with police chief Lt. Col. Zacarias Caloy Dausen and municipal engineers, examined the site to assess the extent of the damage and determine immediate measures to protect the school community.
The La Trinidad government said it would speed up short-term interventions while authorities work on a more sustainable solution to address the landslide and reduce the risk to the school. Maureen Matayew/Contributor/coa
