Worker electrocuted, falls to death at Ormoc building site

TACLOBAN CITY – A construction worker died after he was electrocuted while on a scaffold that caused him to fall while working on a building under construction in Barangay Cogon, Ormoc City, Leyte on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The victim, identified only by his alias “Miki,” a resident of Upper Poblacion, Pilar, Camotes Island, was employed by a construction services company at the time of the accident.
According to the Ormoc City Police Station 1 (OCPS1), the victim was applying cement plaster to the building when his steel finishing tool accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire.

The worker was electrocuted, causing him to lose his balance and fall from the scaffolding.
Responding emergency personnel rushed the victim to a hospital in Ormoc City, where the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.
His remains were later brought to a funeral home.
Police are conducting further investigation into the incident, including possible occupational safety and electrical hazards at the construction site./coa
