Traders pour in P50M for ‘green market area’
About P50 million had been invested for a “green, market square” destination by a Cebuano exporter and his partners in Cebu.
Businessman Eric Ng Mendoza partnered with fellow entrepreneurs Stanley Uang, Oliver Chan and lawyer Reiner Mora for a 12,000 square meter lifestyle development in the North Reclamation Area (NRA) called the Amnezia Super Club.
“We already set up the club on 3,500 square meters of space. We’ll be adding about P120 million more to develop the whole area,” Mendoza said.
The Amnezia Super Club, under the management of newly created company Vivo Sugbo, had a soft opening last December. It slowly drew in visitors and guests who book for private or corporate functions, Mendoza said.
Mendoza said they tapped architect Joy Onozawa of Environment Designs, Inc. who helped them design the place as a “green” destination that have open spaces to maximize natural ventilation.
He said the club will revolve around a “market square” concept that will feature shops, dining, grill houses, organic products and more.
“We will have 90 stalls for the shops which we will be screening so that they will not duplicate each other with the products they are offering,” marketing director Zandro Sy Guillo said.
Mendoza said ongoing site development will be completed by the second half of next year.
He expressed confidence that this new investment will perform well and cater to the booming tourism industry and the increasing number of outsourcing companies that set up offices in Cebu.
“Most of the BPO employees like to unwind and go to a place where they can party with their friends. We will offer more than that, we will offer the best dishes, affordable rates with state-of-the-art facilities,” said Mendoza.
To create more traffic and make the area more accessible to their target market, Mendoza said he requested Mandaue City’s traffic management to open jeepney routes in the area.
“Soon we’ll have jeepneys plying the area like 0IK, 21D, 22D, 21G, 22G and those plying Lilo-an-Makro and Compostela-Makro routes,” Mendoza said.
